MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Voters could get more information about the mysterious and often harsh television advertisements that flood the airwaves just before an election.
But it may take a while.
The state board that governs elections decided Monday that it has the power to regulate so-called issue ads. But exactly how it will do that remains to be seen.
The board ordered attorneys to continue researching the issue and come back with a proposal later.
The goal by those who support more regulation is to make those paying for the ads more accountable and require them to disclose where they get their money, along with other information
